Children’s small pillow filled
Children’s small pillows with flat filling
The children’s small pillows in this category are designed with filling tailored to the needs of young kids. The goal is not to keep the child’s head high, but simply to provide a soft, comfortable base under the head during sleep. For small children (a few years old), it is generally not ideal to raise the head too much, as this can slightly strain the neck. These small pillows have a minimal amount of filling – compared to adult pillows, they contain roughly 1/4–1/3 of the filling, so they stay flatter and gentler for little sleepers.
What is the difference between adult and nursery small pillows?
The difference is mainly in the filling. The cover looks the same, and the standard filling for a 40 x 50 cm nursery pillow is usually around 100 grams, adjusted proportionally for other sizes. In contrast, adult small pillows typically contain 250–400 grams of filling, depending on quality, which makes them noticeably firmer. Here you can choose not only down-filled pillows, but also versions with synthetic fiber ball filling.

From what age do we recommend pillows for little ones?
This is a frequent question. While we are not medical experts, we have discussed the topic with doctors. In general, nursery pillows are more commonly recommended from about 2–3 years of age, similar to children’s down duvets, which are usually suggested from this age as well. The name “nursery pillow” is no coincidence: it is designed to meet the sleep needs of children in preschool age.
For toddlers and young children, comfort and gentle support are key. A flatter pillow with a light filling can help keep the neck in a more natural position, without lifting the head too high. This is why these children’s small pillows are made with significantly less filling than adult versions.
When choosing, consider the child’s age, size, and sleeping habits. Many parents start with a very flat pillow and later switch to a slightly fuller one as the child grows. The standard 40 x 50 cm size works well for most kids’ beds and cots, and the proportionally adjusted filling ensures the pillow stays soft and easy to shape.
In this category you will find both down-filled and synthetic fiber ball–filled pillows. Down offers a soft, cozy feel, while synthetic fiber balls are easy to care for and can be a practical choice for everyday use. Both types aim to provide a comfortable, snug sleeping surface without excessive height or hardness.
Always follow your pediatrician’s advice when introducing a pillow, and observe how your child sleeps. The right children’s small pillow can make bedtime more pleasant and help create a calm, restful sleep environment for your little one.
